~ Rodney inspiring his friends to be the best of themselves to fight against Ratchet and Madam Gasket and foil their genocidal plan. |
Rodney Copperbottom is the main protagonist of Blue Sky Studios' second animated feature film Robots.
He is a young robot who aspires to be an extraordinary inventor similar to his idol, Bigweld. Along the way to meet him in Robot City, he befriends a group of misfit robots who help him fight against Ratchet and Madam Gasket's plan to destroy all of the outmoded robots.
He is voiced by Ewan McGregor, who also played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy.
Actions & Characteristics[]
- He is the most admirable character in the movie due to him repairing many outmodes, preventing them from being taken to the Chop Shop and giving them hope to live, inspiring Bigweld to not give up and return to his previous self, saving Bigweld from being melted by Madame Gasket and preventing Gasket and Ratchet from committing genocide on outmodes in Robot City, saving millions of lives.
- His influence is massive as he both drives the conflict of the film through his bravery to help outmodes and has inspired countless robots, including Bigweld, to fight for their freedom and stop Ratchet's plan to kill all of the outmodes. This led to Bigweld announcing him as his successor when he retires as the head.
- He is one of the most intelligent characters as he created Wonderbot as a helping hand, has the engineering skills to repair the outmoded robots, and he also knows how to use limited resources to his advantage, telling the others to upgrade themselves using junk and metal to make themselves more formidable against Gasket's army.
- He is higher in power then most of the characters due to him being Bigweld's assistant and his eventual successor.
