Right about now, you're probably wondering who I am. Allow me to elucidate ya! The name is Robert E. O. Speedwagon! I had a hunch that Jonathan's run of trouble might not be done, so I followed him back home. I like you, Jonathan, so I'm going to offer up a little tidbit, pro bono: Living in the gutter, you learn to spot low-lifes pretty quick if you want to see tomorrow. I've trained my nose to sort out the bad ones from the good just from a sniff! This fellow reeks of brimstone and blood worse than anyone I ever laid eyes on! He is Pure Evil, right down to his very bones! Is he a victim of circumstance, you're wondering? Not on your life! He's been evil since he drew his first breath!
~ Robert E. O. Speedwagon warns Jonathan not to deceived by Dio Brando.

Robert E. O. Speedwagon is one of two overarching protagonists (alongside Jonathan Joestar) in the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure franchise, serving as the tritagonist of Phantom Blood and a major character in Battle Tendency.

He is voiced by Masaya Onosoka in the Phantom Blood video game and Yoji Ueda in the anime and all other appearances. In the English dub, he is voiced by Keith Silverstein.

Actions and characteristics[]

  • He is one of the most admirable and influential heroes in the series. After moving to America, he would strike it rich by discovering oil which allowed him to establish the Speedwagon Foundation, an organization that has provided key resources and intel for the Joestars from Part 2-6 through the Supernatural Research Department. In this regard, Speedwagon has played a big role behind the scenes to help not just the Joestar family, but the entire world and his legacy continues to have an impact on the series through the organization he created well after his death.
  • Despite not having the powers of the other JoJos or Will Zeppeli, Speedwagon was able to stand out through his contribution in stopping Dio Brando and especially by helping the Joestar family through the Speedwagon Foundation.
  • He is one of the most noble heroes in the series. He devoted his life helping Joestar family and fight against vampires an Pillar Men. After getting rich by finding the oil in America, instead of using wealth for self-serving purposes, he uses these money to create the Speedwagon Foundation to research into medicine, archeology, and environmental preservation.
  • While he started off as a hoodlum thug in the streets of London, Speedwagon subverts all of his corrupting factors by becoming a good friend to Jonathan and Zeppeli. Even before this, he only stole from other criminals.
