Potential Candidates[]
Nika[]
Nika known by the epithets of "Sun God", "Sun God Nika", and the "Warrior of Liberation" is an ancient relic of the past that existed before Joy Boy's time. He is renown as a savior and a hero who helped free many slaves. Nika is worshiped by the Buccaneers for being a liberator and is also worshiped by the giants of Elbaph. Both Luffy and Joy Boy possess the Human-Human Fruit: Nika that makes them take on the appearance of Nika. What is known about Nika is that he was a good individual.
At the moment, there is not much information known about Nika for him to be considered The Ultimate Good.
Joy Boy[]
The first pirate to set sea in the world, Joy Boy is regarded as a legendary and powerful figure. He is noted to have fought in a large battle centuries ago. Remnants of his haki stored in Emet, was powerful enough to de-power the Five Elders in their monster forms and de-summon three of them from Egghead Island. The same remnant of his haki was enough to terrify Imu, the mysterious but evil ruler of the World Government.
Like Nika, there is not much information known about Joy Boy for him to be considered The Ultimate Good.
Monkey D. Dragon[]
Monkey D. Dragon is the father to Monkey D. Luffy. He is the leader of the Revolutionary Army, an army of individuals who are united in their goal to take down the exceptionally monstrous and corrupt Celestial Dragons. Dragon's goal is to stop the oppression from the Celestial Dragons that have caused untold amount of suffering around the world. He is noted to be one of the biggest criminals to the World Government who is noted to be a powerful and worthy threat to their oppression of the world.
At the moment, Dragon's backstory is largely a mystery, and his character arc is ongoing to be considered The Ultimate Good.
Shanks[]
Red Hair Shanks, one of the Four Emperors, was the first to believe in Luffy's potential to become a powerful pirate and stands out as a model to Luffy. He has a history of doing good towards others and even getting along well with his on-and-off-again enemy, Whitebeard. One of his most noble acts was stopping the Paramount War and saving Koby by appearing which ended up saving more lives and putting an end to Blackbeard recklessly using his new devil fruit powers. He is known to be an extremely powerful pirate and formidable fighter by how he ended the Paramount War which consisted of some of the strongest fighters in the world by simply showing up to the battlefield. In addition to defeating Eustass Kidd, a formidable pirate in his own rights who recently help to defeat the powerful Big Mom in Wano, by knocking him out with a single attack.
In spite of his heroic deeds, Shanks's backstory is a mystery, and his character arc is ongoing like Dragon to be considered The Ultimate Good.
Koby[]
Aspiring Marine and rival to Monkey D. Luffy, Koby have grown throughout the series from being a weakling to a capable and powerful Marine through his trainings with Monkey D. Garp. Unlike the corrupt Akainu who believes in the dangerous concept of Absolute Justice, Koby genuinely believe in doing what is good by the civilians without harming them. After getting kidnapped by the Blackbeard Pirates, Koby reveals his immense powers by destroying Pizarro's mountain-like arm and helping to save many innocents from the pirates. He stands as an individual willing to challenge and stop Luffy from achieving his dream but to also be of genuine good service to the civilians by protecting them from dangerous pirates.
At the moment, Koby's story arc is ongoing.
Close Contenders[]
Gol D. Roger[]
The Pirate King and one of the most powerful pirates in the world. He helped to stop the dangerous Rocks D. Xebec during the God Valley Incident and clashed against other powerful pirates and individuals like Edward Newgate and Monkey D. Garp. He is known to be the one pirate to have found the One Piece and is knowledgeable of the history of the world. Because of his actions, he stands out as the most influential characters in the series for helping to kick-start the Great Age of Pirates.
While he is established to one of the most powerful pirates, generally decent and good person in spite of being a pirate, and very influential, Roger lacks the admirable good deeds that would make him stand out as The Ultimate Good.
Monkey D. Garp[]
The father to Monkey D. Dragon and grandfather to Monkey D. Luffy, Garp is known to be the "Hero of the Marines" and have gained a good reputation over the decades for protecting the civilians from pirates. One of his most notable actions is participating in the God Valley incident in his battle against Rocks D. Xebec to stop Xebec and save the lives of the people on the island including the monstrously corrupt Celestial Dragons. He was also a major rival and enemy of Gol D. Roger, the man who would become the Pirate King. In spite of his tough attitude, he raised Roger's biological son, Ace, as his own son and protected him. In addition, he helped to train Luffy himself. Unlike some Marines like Sakazuki and Aramaki who are corrupt, Garp genuinely tries to protect civilians and do what is right. His latest act of heroism is saving Koby and numerous civilians from the Blackbeard Pirates by leaving himself behind to be taken as a prisoner by them. He is shown to be one of the most powerful characters in the series. For example, he is capable of launching large scale attacks and fighting the crew of an Emperor without any major struggles.
Despite his heroic deed, he lacks the scale of impact that his grandson Luffy have. In addition, to lacking the focus on him in the narrative enough to establish himself as The Ultimate Good.
Edward Newgate[]
Known to be "The Strongest Man in the World", Newgate, also known as Whitebeard, was a feared and immensely powerful pirate. Whitebeard had the power to create quakes and can trigger tsunamis that can destroy islands. He was noted to also have the power to potentially destroy the world. He was a powerful one-man army with the power to face off against dozens to hundreds of Marines by himself and take on powerful enemies like the three admirals, at the time, Akainu, Aokiji, and Kizaru. He was a caring father to his men and treated Portgas D. Ace as a member of his family. He was also genuinely protective of the islands and territories of the New World like Fish-man Island unlike the pragmatic and greedy Charlotte Linlin. Whitebeard is also fearless and powerful as he was able to take on powerful enemies on his own to try and save one of his sons, Ace.
Despite his heroic actions, Whitebeard lacked the scale of impact that Luffy have had by many islands throughout his journey.
Princess Shirahoshi[]
The daughter of King Neptune and the late Queen Otohime, Shirahoshi is shown to be as kind-hearted as her mother and caring about fish-men and human life. Despite her timidity, she was willing to stop the evil Hody Jones from destroying Fish-man Island. Despite her presence during the Fish-man Island Saga of the story, and lack of any combat experience, it is revealed that she is also the Ancient Weapon Poseidon. With her powers of Poseidon, Shirahoshi has the power to communicate with the powerful Sea Kings in the ocean. It is noted that any Ancient Weapon is powerful enough to cause mass destruction and can destroy an entire island. In Shirahoshi's case, she does not intend to use the Sea King to cause any harm. She possesses a lot of power by means of communicating with the Sea Kings and getting them to listen to her.
In spite of her kind-hearted nature and the power she possesses, she lacks the scale of impact that Luffy have had by many islands throughout his journey.
Dr. Vegapunk[]
Vegapunk, specifically Stella, is known to be "The Smartest Man in the World". He is a very intelligent scientist that even the unscrupulous Caesar Clown, a rival scientist, is envious of him. In addition, he also gained the recognition and acknowledgement of the Five Elders for his inventions and achievements. Unlike the Five Elders, especially, Saint Jaygarcia Saturn, Vegapunk intends to use his knowledge, powers and abilities, to bring free energy to the world and help the advancement of technology to help and benefit everyone on the planet. He believes in doing good for everyone in the world and sharing his knowledge on the information he studied and gathered that is forbidden by the Five Elders. His knowledge and achievements were shown to have benefited the people of Egghead Island. Despite not being physically powerful, he was tactical and strategical with dealing with the mole for the World Government, York, and eventually outwitting the Five Elders by broadcasting his message to the world to leak vital importance to everyone enough to get their attention and leave enough of an impact. While Stella, the original Vegapunk is dead, he lives on in his satellites to continue his goal.
While he is very heroic for his actions and inventions, he spent too significant of a time helping the World Government, an oppressive regime, by empowering them by working under them.
