Natsu Dragneel is the main protagonist of Fairy Tail.
He is voiced by Todd Haberkorn in the English dub of the anime.
Actions & Characteristics[]
- He is the most admirable character, as he manages to save countless countries and defeat countless powerful villains throughout the series, including his older brother Zeref (though he eventually regret it after fully realizing how painfully complicated he was) and the original Dragon Slayer, Acnologia.
- He is the most influential character, as he is highly capable of turning his enemies into his most trusted allies, including fellow Dragon Slayer Gajeel Redfox to the point that Gajeel himself starts to believe in the power of friendship just as much as Natsu does. He's also capable of sympathizing with some of his enemies, such as teaching Acnologia about creating his own happiness despite all of his past hardships and to value what he has in life.
- In the case of Zeref however, Natsu eventually felt great remorse for everything he said and did towards him before his death. When Zeref was still alive, Natsu sadly misunderstood him in a rather blind and stubborn way, taking every unwillingly bad thing he does at face value and treating Zeref as though he wanted to be like that. Even after Natsu learned about their past and the truth about Zeref suffering from a curse, he was not the least bit hesitant to have his brother defeated and was being blatantly relentless in hating his brother. He also ignorantly accused Zeref for not finding any happiness in life, when Natsu can see Zeref visibly suffering in front of his eyes (with Zeref even saying that no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stop hurting innocent lives because of his curse, leading to him unable to be happy). Natsu also never once tried understanding the least bit why Zeref did all the things he did in the Alvarez Empire Arc and even after finally learning his true plan and good intentions that were painfully complicated (in which Zeref will reset the timeline to ensure a better future for humanity, only wanting to set things right for others when he couldn't do it for many years), Natsu kept forcing himself to find the worst in his brother and blindly asserted that his brother is only caring about himself (even though it's painfully obvious that he really couldn't value the lives of others in the current timeline due to his curse). It isn't until after Zeref's death when Natsu fully realized how complicated his older brother was (after using his curse to weaken one of the Dragon Gods during the 100 Year Quest), even feeling horrible for how he misunderstood his brother more than others despite knowing more about him compared to most, apologizing to Zeref for disowning him and not being there for him when he was still alive. Eventually, Natsu promised to view Zeref as family as well and even considered him his only true brother, since Ignia (his adoptive brother) was nothing like him.
- He is one of the most powerful characters as he has incredible use of Dragon Slayer Magic and is a highly skilled combatant. He uses Dragon Force to increase his strength and has transformed to his demonic self E.N.D. on a few occasions.
- Though he can be hotheaded, reckless, immature, and jerkish at times, Natsu is a genius when it comes to battle. He uses his enhanced senses to detect his opponent's moves in order to defeat them and is very creative and unpredictable. He can also be insightful and wise as he gives advice to those around him.
