Monkey D. Luffy is the main protagonist of One Piece. He is the son of Monkey D. Dragon, the grandson of Monkey D. Garp and the pirate captain of the Straw Hat Pirates.
He is voiced by Urara Takano and Mayumi Tanaka in the Japanese version of the anime, and by Erica Schroeder, Chuck Powers and Colleen Clinkenbeard in the various English dubs. He is portrayed by Iñaki Godoy in the live action version.
Action and Characteristics[]
- Luffy helped to save multiple lives from dangerous threats in the East Blue such as Buggy the Clown, Captain Kuro, Don Krieg, and Arlong.
- As he entered the Grand Line, Luffy helped to stop threats that threatened millions of lives such as stopping Crocodile and Enel from killing scores of people.
- He stood up to many dangerous threats such as CP9 and the Celestial Dragons when he encountered them.
- In the New World, he stopped Hody Jones from killing everyone on the Fishman Island and when he visited Punk Hazard, he helped stop Caesar Clown from killing many people.
- He defeated Donquixote Doflamingo and helped to liberate Dressrosa from his grasp.
- During the Wano raid, Luffy was pivotal in stopping Kaido and his 20 years of tyranny over the country and liberating it.
- According to some of his enemies like Dracule Mihawk, it is noted that Luffy has the power to attract people to his side and gain allies showing that he can be influential to a large number of people.
- Throughout the course of the series, Luffy gained power to the point where he can fight the Four Emperors such as a gaining Gear 2nd to fight Blueno, Gear 3rd to fight Rob Lucci, Gear 4th to fight Doflamingo, and gaining Gear 5th to fight and defeat Kaido. He is by far one of the most powerful individuals in the world who is against the corruption of the World Government and evil pirates.
- He has the power of the Human-Human Fruit: Model Nika that is stated to be a mythological devil fruit that the Gorosei is very concerned about.
- Despite being an anti-hero with multiple corrupting qualities, they don't get too much in the way of Luffy's heroism as he chooses to help others.
