It doesn't matter how many underhanded tricks a person uses... The truth will always find a way to make itself known. The only thing we can do is fight with the knowledge we hold and everything we have. Erasing the paradoxes one by one... It's never easy... We claw and scratch for every inch. But we will always eventually reach that one single truth. This I promise you.
~ Edgeworth's views on finding the truth.

Miles Edgeworth is the deuteragonist of the Ace Attorney franchise, acting as the deuteragonist of the main series and the main protagonist of the Investigations duology. He is the reformed chief prosecutor of Los Angeles, who is working to fix the legal system and purge it of any and all corruption after realizing how badly it needed to be fixed thanks to the actions of Simeon Saint, eventually succeeding in his goal 7 years later where despite not prosecuting as often anymore, still works to make sure the legal system will never be like it was in the past.

He is voiced by Christopher Wehkamp in the English version and by Masashi Tamaki in the Japanese version.

Actions and Characteristics[]

  • He is easily one of the most admirable characters in the series, exposing several dangerous criminals throughout his time in the Investigations duology, freeing two countries from economical disasters, taking down the bigger bad of the series, Excelsius Winner, who was responsible for much of the corruption within the legal system that took place in the series all the way up until his appearance in Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutors Gambit. and by the time of the 3D games, he has become the chief prosecutor and now works towards repairing the legal system from the damage that others abused it for and get rid of all corruption within the prosecutors office, eventually ending the Dark Age of Law with Phoenix Wright's and Simon Blackquill's help by masterminding the defeat of the Phantom and helping Phoenix solve the UR-1 case, finally fixing the legal system after decades of corruption.
  • He has a great amount of influence over the series, with him often playing an equally as important role in Phoenix's cases with him playing large roles in the events of the first game, Farewell, my Turnabout and Bridge to the Turnabout, him being the main character to oppose all the villains in the Investigations duology, including exposing Excelsius Winner for his corruption of the legal system and Simeon Saint as the mastermind behind the events of the second game, allowing Phoenix to become a defense attorney once again after proving his innocence with the diary page forgery, being the Greater-Scope Paragon over Dual Destinies by masterminding the defeat of the Phantom via luring him out by allowing Simon Blackquill to prosecute and playing a large role in putting an end to the Dark Age of Law.
  • He is shown to have higher power than a majority of the characters, having vast authority as the chief prosecutor that allows him to give his allies investigation rights whenever they need it, fire any corrupt prosecutors, appoint any prosecutor he wants to a case as he did with Simon Blackquill due to being busy with his duties and being a prosecutor also gives him more connections with the police and more legal power in the courtroom.
  • He is extremely intelligent and perceptive, always guessing the correct culprit in the end and figuring out how the crime happened and manages to outwit his opponents often, while also being able to trick them into giving him information unknowingly by reading their body language and reacting appropriately. A prime example of his intelligence was when he figured out that Simon Blackquill was innocent of killing Metis Cykes and that an assassin known as "the Phantom" was the true killer, so he had Blackquill be allowed to prosecute despite being on death row as a way of luring out the Phantom and ultimately solving the UR-1 case, which worked and ultimately brought the end of the Dark Age of the Law.
  • He is overall the toughest protagonist that the villains have to face in the series as he is much more resilient to intimidation tactics then the other protagonists in the series and was the only one that was capable of bringing down ruthless criminals such as Quercus Alba and Excelsius Winner despite the two being vastly more powerful and dangerous then Edgeworth himself.
