“ | 🎵 Come on, little lady, why the frown? In the last 10000 years, you're the first one to change this town! You can do this, now I know it! For your story is just begun. You can't quit now. Hell, you owe it! There's still damage to be undone. You've changed my mind, you've touched their hearts, found the good in souls gone bad. The stage is wrecked, the crowd is gone, but by god, Charlie! The show, it must go on! 🎵 | „ |
~ Lucifer motivating his daughter into continuing her goals in "Finale". |
King Lucifer Morningstar is the overarching protagonist of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel and a mentioned character in its YouTube spin-off Helluva Boss.
He is a former Seraphim, the King of Hell and leader of the Seven Deadly Sins, representing the Sin of Pride. The estranged husband of Lilith and father of Charlie, Lucifer is a recluse who has given up on the Sinners he rules over, at least until his daughter calls him to help with the Hazbin Hotel.
Despite being often presented as a villainous entity, this incarnation of Lucifer is heroic and well-intentioned, even if he started out cynical and believing redemption is impossible, thus making him the Ultimate Good of the Hellaverse.
He was voiced by Jeremy Jordan.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- He is easily the strongest heroic character in the Hellaverse, and the strongest to appear on-screen in general, as the King of Hell and all-powerful angel. He is shown to have easily defeated Adam - himself the strongest villain yet and close Ultimate Evil contender - without even putting any effort in it.
- He is one of the series' most admirable characters, saving everyone from Adam, preventing Exorcists from killing Hellborn demons, and later rebuilding the Hazbin Hotel, thus letting his daughter continue her plans of redeeming sinners. While he's not as hands-on as the other heroes, such as Charlie, he still has some of the series' most heroic acts. Additionally, it's been stated he's been trying to redeem humanity a long time before Charlie, though he ultimately gave up before the events of Season 1.
- He is the most influential character in the entire universe, as he is the reason - even if he didn't intend for it - Hell even exists in the first place, thus letting the events of both shows play out.
- While he does have a few bad actions as his resume, such as letting evil enter the world or allowing Exterminations to happen, neither of those are corrupting; he didn't intend to create evil, simply being a free spirit that wanted humanity to have free will, and he's clearly not happy with Exterminations while implying he didn't want them, but Heaven refused to listen and he was forced to go for the lesser evil (only Sinners being targeted).
- While he was a cynic who believed redemption was impossible and outright told as such to Charlie in his first appearance, he ultimately comes to understand he was wrong, and as of the Season 1 finale is back to being an idealistic hero.
