King Rauru (mostly known as Rauru) is the overarching protagonist of the "Era of the Wilds" saga within The Legend of Zelda franchise, serving as the tritagonist of the 2023 action-adventure video game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
He is the member of the Zonai Tribe as well as the founder of Hyrule in the distant past alongside his Hylian wife, Sonia and the younger brother of Mineru. After Link's arm was rendered unusable as a result of his prolonged exposure to Ganondorf's Gloom, he grants his right arm to him that he can use.
In the original Japanese production, he is voiced by Riki Kagami. In the English dub of the game, he is voiced by Chris Hackney.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- He is among the most admirable characters in the series, as he sacrifices his own life in order to seal Ganondorf and give his kingdom hope. This leads to a peace only interrupted by Ganondorf's malice breaking out of the seal.
- He is among the most powerful heroes in the series, as he was able to place a seal on Ganondorf that lasted for thousands of years. He possesses the sacred power of light and, being a Zonai, has a good knowledge about the Zonai powers and technologies. His arm has also impressive powers such as ultrahand, fuse and ascend.
- He is the most influential character in the series, alongside Zelda, being the founder of Hyrule. He also gave the secret stones to the sages and guided Link for a short period. Most importantly, he placed the seal on Ganondorf, saving Hyrule from certain defeat.
