~ Euphemia on what she wants to do, also showing her compassion and his dislike of xenophobia. |
Euphemia li Britannia is a major protagonist from the 2006 anime Code Geass. She is the daughter of Charles zi Britannia and the Third Princess of the Britannia Imperial Family while also being the half-sister of Lelouch and Nunally vi Britannia. Despite being a part of the Imperial Family, she is a kindhearted and open-minded person who despises any prejudice and becomes the Sub-Viceroy of Area 11 to help secure the rights of the Japanese.
She is voiced by Omi Minami in Japanese and by Michelle Ruff in the English dubbed version.
Actions & Characteristics[]
- She is the most admirable heroine in the series, because although heroes like Suzaku and Nunnally did all of their heroic actions, she was the one that came up with the plan to overcome Britannia prejudice in the first place and manages to outmaneuver Lelouch's plans and does all she can to overcome Britannia prejudice and reconcile with Lelouch. Even after her death, she still came up with a plan to topple her tyrannical father's empire and overcome the xenophobic supremacy he is spouting, and her actions cause Suzaku's redemption and cause him to reconcile with Lelouch and stop the Emperor's Ragnarök plan. Her spirit even helps CC, alongside Rolo and Shirley, complete Lelouch's resurrection as well, showing she forgives her brother even in death.
- She is the most influential heroine in the anime series, as she the one who came up with a plan to help overcome the war her father was waging to help increase his empire and managed to inspire Suzaku to become the best version of himself and even earns Lelouch's respect and even when she dies, Suzaku is motivated into trying to help stop the Emperor's Ragnarök plan and save the world that causes Nunnally to be restored to power as the Governess of Area 11, destabilizing Britannia's xenophobia and the ideology that her father's tyrannical rule has caused as the world is brought back to an era of peace and prosperity.
- While she lacks any Geass abilities, she still makes up for it with her resourcefulness and political knowledge, as she had access to multiple resources due to being the Sub-Viceroy and had been able to change the laws whenever she needed too and was able to use her vast knowledge of politics and diplomacy to maneuver Zero's plans of control and ease political pressure that most people have. She also has the strongest willpower, as, unlike Lelouch, Suzaku, and the rest of the cast, she never comes close to corruption or fall into the dark side like Lelouch himself. This also makes Euphemia the most incorruptible character in the series.
- While she was despised for her treachery due to Britannian lineage, by the end of the day, Euphemia actually embodies purity and goodness at its core in a grey-zoned setting and by the end of the day, is represented as a symbol of hope in a bleak world like Code Geass.
- She is the noblest heroine in the entire work. While the setting of Code Geass is rather shown to be grey zoned and most of its heroes are morally grey and/or have numerous corrupting qualities, Euphemia is shown to be a completely empathetic and loving individual who lacks the corrupting qualities of her family and despises the xenophobic and supremacist ideology, doing what she can do to improve the situation. Despite being part of the Imperial Family and the Holy Britannian Empire, she doesn't show the xenophobia her father is known to have and doesn't leave her own trail of bodies or crimes like the rest of her family members, standing out as the kindest member of her family and their most favorite in the Britannia family household.
- While it could be argued that Lelouch is as admirable as she is, Lelouch is a Grey-zoned character that has committed many villainous deeds, making Euphemia easily stand out from him.
