Dr. Light is the overarching protagonist of the Mega Man franchise. He is a renowned scientist and roboticist who formerly worked with Dr. Wily in creating and specializing robots for the sole purpose of helping people, until the latter turned against him, He seeks to defeat his former friend and save the world from his army. He is also the creator of Mega Man, Roll, Proto Man, and Mega Man X.

- He is by far the most influential character in the entire series, as he is the creator of Mega Man and Mega Man X. Due to his creation of X, he is responsible for the entire Reploid race, because X was Dr. Cain's template for creating Reploids, which were then mass produced to live among humans.
- In a way, he is one of the most powerful characters in the series, due to the fact that he had the resources and intelligence to create sentient robots, and eventually, X. Not only that, he also created extremely powerful armor parts for X.
- He is one of the most admirable characters in the series, because although Mega Man and X did all of their heroic acts, Dr. Light upgraded Rock into Mega Man and created X with the purpose of doing all of their admirable deeds of helping stop global threats across multiple games.
