Douglas Yancey "Doug" Funnie is the titular main protagonist of the Doug series.
In the Nickelodeon series, he was voiced by Billy West and in the Disney reboot, he was voiced by Tom McHugh.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- He is the most admirable character in the series, as he manages to clear his pet dog Porkchop's name when the latter was accused of biting Mayor Bluff's daughter Beebe when, in reality, he was saving from the melted ice.
- Additionally, he saves his friends from drowning.
- He also saves a mutated lizard named Herman from being placed in the polluted Lucky Duck Lake by taking him to the clean Crystal Lake.
- He is the most influential character, he gives many people in Bluffington very sagely advice and helps them with solving problems. He also doesn't hesitate to call out others for their wrongdoings, inspiring them to reflect on themselves and make things right. This goes to show that Doug stands out as the most moralistic character in the entire series.
- While he can be naive at times due to being young and a newcomer at Bluffington, Doug is incredibly intelligent, as he creates plans to solve problems, whether it is to help himself to get out of certain situations, help people with issues they couldn't solve on their own or to save innocent people from being convicted of a crime they did not commit or from certain death.
- The most prominent example of Doug using his smarts is when he figures out how to save Herman before he will be placed in Lucky Duck Lake by Mayor Bluff.
- He also wins a fight against Roger Klotz without laying a finger on him.
