Apes apart…weak. Apes together strong.
~ Ceaser’s mantra and his most famous quote.
APES DO NOT WANT WAR! BUT WILL FIGHT IF WE MUST! Ape Home! Human Home!…do not come back.
~ Ceaser telling and pleading with the Humans to not seek out war with the apes in order to keep their peace and prosperity between each race.
Don’t worry, Maurice. You are all home now. Apes are strong…with or without me.
~ Caesar’s last words as he consoles his best friend Maurice, implying that his legacy and teachings will inspire others to follow his ways.

However, he is chosen as a test subject by the cruel Steven Jacobs, the CEO of Gen-Sys Laboratories, the biotechnology company that manufactured the drug on other apes such as Koba, granting him very high intelligence. He would soon lead an uprising against the humans who have mistreated and abused them, who would lead to the death and devolution of the human race. Soon ruling his own kingdom of apes, who he rules in peace and doesn’t want to have any war with then humans. However, after Koba betrays him, Caesar goes out to stop him and learns to live in peace alongside mankind, with his teachings having inspired Noa even after his death against the remorseless Proximus Caesar, who has twisted his own teachings to fix his own ideals.

He is portrayed by Andy Serkis.

Actions & Characteristics[]

  • He is the most admirable hero in the franchise, as he helped save and comfort his race into overthrowing their tormentors and defeated many heinous villains along the way, like Colonel McCollough and Koba, and even protected the last race of humans from Koba’s wrath.
  • He is the most influential hero in the series, as he kickstarts the conflict of the first film and serves as its driving force for the reminder of the series, as he is responsible for Koba’s descent into villainy and as well as his defeat and as well as being responsible for enforcing the peace between humans and apes to exist without conflict. Even after his death, he would still be responsible for Noa becoming the hero he is now and for indirectly being responsible for Proximus Ceaser’s crimes and his eventual defeat.
  • He is very intelligent and charismatic. He manages to sway other apes to join his cause as his allies and his increased intelligence allows him to surpass that of a human and he even manages to speak in full sentences and knows why McCollough is making them build a wall. He is even an expert leader as he manages to earn the respect and loyalty of nearly every ape and manages to bring up an ape army under his teachings of how apes live by loyalty and their own courage and morals.
  • He is also very physically strong and skilled with marksmanship, managing to put up a good fight with villains like Koba and Colonel McCollough and is also skilled at fighting hand-to-hand at other foes, making him a formidable opponent.
  • He is clearly presented as a somewhat chaotic but messianic figure among his ape race as his teachings has inspired loyalty and devolution to his fellow apes, with such apes following his own teachings of preserving peace and prosperity among their enemies, such as Noa, who represents the benevolent side of Caesar’s beilefs and Proximus represents and abominates his own teachings to fit his own superiority and imitation over other races that don’t fit his vision of perfection.
  • Despite being lethal and ruthless at times, this doesn’t hinder his admirability and heroism at all, as he never has any xenophobia towards humans and it mostly against the ones that tortured his race, even trying to make peace with them so that they could live in peace. The only times he would ever resort to lethal methods is that when others harm his race or his other loved ones like his son and wife.
