“ | I am vengeance! I am the night! I am Batman! | „ |
~ Batman to Joker before locking him in the depths of his mind to be forgotten forever, his most famous quote. |
Batman (real name Bruce Wayne) is the titular main protagonist of Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham franchise.
He is a vigilante that protects Gotham City from all types of major criminals during night after being traumatized by witnessing the cold blooded murder of his parents when he was only a kid, deciding to dedicate his entire life to putting an end to crime in Gotham and making sure that no one would have to suffer a loss like he did ever again, taking in multiple orphans and the daughter of his closest ally Jim Gordon, Barbara Gordon and training them to becoming excellent crime fighters that protected Gotham and Bludhaven from crime.
He was voiced by the late Kevin Conroy in every game except Arkham Origins and Arkham Shadow. In Origins and Shadow, he is voiced by Roger Craig Smith.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- He is incredibly admirable for saving Gotham City numerous times, defeating several heinous villains across his time in the series, training Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon and Tim Drake into becoming vigilantes that stopped crime and saved lives, preventing Hugo Strange and Ra's al Ghul from murdering millions of people all over the globe, saving the entire Eastern Seaboard from being mind-raped by Scarecrow and saving the entire world from being mind-raped by Scarecrow after Scarecrow attempted to destroy Gotham's hope for survival after exposing Bruce's identity to the world.
- He is the most influential hero in the series, with him directly or indirectly causing every good thing that happens in the first four installments and Shadow by being the most active threat against the villains plans, being the one that trained the other heroes in the series into what they are in the current day and all of the villains plans having something to do with either destroying or ruining Batman's life.
- He is incredibly intelligent, being able to solve all of Enigma's riddles that he consistently leaves behind for him to prove that he is superior to Batman in intellect, knowing exactly how to strategise against all his enemies to triumph over them, solve any crime he comes across with very little difficulty, is able to create anachronistic technology that is decades ahead of its time and utilizes his famous tactic known as "The Batman Tactic" where he manipulates his enemies into doing his work for him, a prime example being when he purposefully let one of Ra's al Ghuls ninjas defeat him so he could place a tracking device on her and she would lead him to Ra's al Ghuls base so he could get a sample of his blood for a cure to Jokers TITAN infected blood.
- He is very powerful despite lacking superhuman powers or abilities, training himself to be the perfect human being over the course of years, mastering over 100 fighting styles, having access to extremely powerful gadgets and vehicles such as the Batmobile and the Batwing and he is durable enough to take numerous beatings over the series, yet still get back up and continue crime fighting regardless, a prime example being when he managed to take three consecutive hits from TN-1 Bane, even being smashed through a wall in the process and still ending up okay afterwards.
- While he is an anti-hero, he never goes out of his way to harm innocent people and the one time he was willing to endanger them, he quickly realized that it was the wrong thing to do after Alfred convinced him that stopping Protocol 10 was more important then saving Talia and in Origins, he sympathised with Freeze's motive of wanting to save his dying wife and attempted to convince him to redeem himself, showing that despite his flawed character, he is a truly noble and honorable hero.
- He has truly amazing willpower, as he managed to resist Copperhead's toxins which were strong enough to kill one of Jokers men in mere seconds long enough to get himself cured and defeat her, continuously resists being driven to insanity by Scarecrow's fear toxins throughout the series, managed to fight against clones of Solomon Grundy for five days straight with no sleep and minimal food or water and he overcomes Jokers influence within him and manages to forget about him, preventing Joker from taking over his body to use for disgusting purposes.
- Ever since the end of Arkham Origins, he has been seen as a symbol of hope for the people of Gotham, with people consistently believing that no matter how bad the problem gets, Batman will save them all in the end and even when Scarecrow attempts to break him mentally to destroy the hope of the people of Gotham, Batman refused to succumb to the fear toxin and ultimately destroyed Scarecrow's plan to expose Batman as a coward and destroy all hope in the world.
- Him being captured by Brainiac during Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League does not negate the immense influence he had over the series.
