Armin Arlert is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Mikasa Ackerman) of the Attack on Titan franchise.
He is the best friend of Eren Yeager and Mikasa Ackerman. After the fall of Shiganshina, he joined the Survey Corps and inherited the Colossal Titan from Bertholdt Hoover. Four years later, he eventually succeeded Hange Zoë as the Scout Commander.
He is voiced by Marina Inoue in Japanese and Jessie James Grelle in English.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- He's among the most noble and admirable characters in the story, as he's always ready to sacrifice his own life in order to do the right thing or help his companions even if he has to be incredibly lethal. He also hates war and always tries to find another solution, using war as a last option.
- He's the first one in Paradise to point out that Eren's plan is too much and they cannot let him cause a global massacre. He, Hange and the remaining of the Survey Corps joined forces with the warriors in order to stop the Rumbling and he's eventually ready to kill his best friend to save the world.
- He's among the most powerful characters in the series, as he has the power of the Colossal Titan, which is considered even by Marleyan officers the most powerful titan shifter, second only to the Founding Titan. Additionally, his intelligence makes him an even more formidable soldier.
- He has a lot of influence over the story, his plans and his ideas always saved Paradise (or even the entire world in the last arc) from defeat:
- Back when he was a kid, he showed Eren his book that contained informations about the world outside the walls, fueling Eren's desire to go outside and join the Survey Corps.
- During the struggle for Trost, he suggested Pyxis to use Eren's titan to move the giant rock and seal the broken wall: this plan was ultimately successful and lead to humanity's first victory against the titans.
- He found out that Annie is the Female Titan, leading to her getting ultimately captured.
- He and Hange came up with the idea of reaching Shiganshina at night.
- He tricked Bertholdt and allowed Erwin to save Eren before he and Reiner could escape.
- During the uprising, he found out the weak points of Anti-personnel omni-directional gear.
- During the battle to retake Shiganshina, he found out Reiner's hideout and he came up with the plan that ultimately defeated Bertolt.
- After the battle for Shiganshina, he and Hitch kept visiting Annie, informing her of everything.
- He saved Falco from Connie when he wanted to use the young warrior, who had just inherited the Jaw Titan, to turn his mother back into human, gaining both Gabi and Falco's trust.
- He played a massive role during the final battle, as he was the only one able to destroy Eren's Founding Titan, and he and Zeke ultimately woke up the deceased titan inheritors in the Paths to help the alliance. He blew up Eren's Founding Titan and fought Eren's Colossal Titan form, allowing Mikasa to kill Eren.
- He saves the defenseless Eldians, convincing general Müller that Eldians are not titans anymore.
